STARS Grants programme for individual research 2025
The STARS @UNIPD 2025 call is open from 20 December 2024 to 21 March 2025, at 1.00 p.m. (Italian time).
The STARS @UNIPD 2025 call funds research projects lasting 30 months in one of the 28 scientific areas included in the disciplinary groups established by the University Macro-Areas, corresponding to the three European Research Council (ERC) domains:
- PE: Physical Sciences and Engineering
- LS: Life Sciences
- SH: Social Sciences and Humanities.
The call offers three types of funding with a bottom-up approach, with no predefined thematic areas. It is open to Principal Investigators (PIs) of any age and nationality who wish to carry out their research activity at a Department of the University of Padua. Applicants must demonstrate the innovative nature, ambition and feasibility of the scientific proposal submitted.
STARS Starting Grant (STARS-StG): for PIs, including those external to the University of Padua, who are at the stage of starting their own team and/or independent research activity, and who passed the final discussion of their first PhD thesis no more than 5 years before 1 January 2025 (eligibility window: 01/01/2020 - 31/12/2024 inclusive);
STARS Consolidator Grant (STARS-CoG): for PIs already carrying out research activity at Unipd, who are at the stage of consolidating their own team and/or independent research activity, and who passed the final discussion of their first PhD thesis at least 5 years and no more than 10 years before 1 January 2025 (eligibility window: 01/01/2015 - 31/12/2019 inclusive);
STARS Wild Card Grant (STARS-WiC): for PIs already carrying out research activity at Unipd and who submitted an ERC project proposal under the 2023 and 2024 calls, indicating Unipd as the Host Institution, but who, despite obtaining the final grade of "A" in the second evaluation step, were not funded due to budget limitations.
