Global Perspectives and Strategies in Higher Education Partnerships

The International Staff Training Week “Global Perspectives and Strategies in Higher Education Partnerships” was held in Padua from 7 to 11 October 2024.

Partnerships are key drivers of innovation, internationalization, and academic excellence in higher education. They facilitate research collaborations, promote intercultural exchange, and enrich the educational experience for students and faculty. However, leveraging partnerships to maximize their impact requires careful consideration and strategic planning. This International Staff Training Week aims to provide participants with best practices and strategies not only to identify promising partnership opportunities, but also to effectively nurture, monitor and support them. Through the input of international speakers and the presentation of case studies from around the world, the event will examine ways to leverage mutual institutional strengths and align partnership goals with broader academic and institutional goals.

Experimenting with Mobility: what works best to stimulate internationalisation?

The International Staff Training Week “Experimenting with Mobility: what works best to stimulate internationalisation?” was held in Padua from 12 to 14 October 2022.

Innovative and flexible types of mobility in Higher Education are expanding rapidly, and are strongly supported by the European Commission within the new Erasmus+ Programme 2021-2027. Those types of mobility, including short, virtual, blended mobilities, allow for increasing inclusion and extend the reach of international activities to wider target groups. The aim of the event is to bring together International Officers, Academics, and all university staff members engaged with or interested in innovative and flexible mobilities, and share best practices from across the globe. It also aims to support the development of links across Professional Service Units (Global/International Office, Student Affair Office, Career Service and others) and Academic Schools.

The International Staff Training Week 2021 was held fully online from 7th to 10th June 2021.

This year's Training Week was dedicated to the topic of Celebrating University Anniversaries, and was jointly organised by the University of Padua and the University of St Andrews. The event built on the upcoming 800th anniversary celebrations of the University of Padua in 2022 and the 600th anniversary celebrations at St Andrews in 2013. Sessions were dedicated to both academic and general topics, from collections and cultural heritage, to communication and global engagement, logistics, fundraising and alumni, as well legacy of these celebrations. We had the pleasure to welcome administrative and academic staff members from Higher Education Institutions across the globe, who participated actively throughout the International Week and gave their great contribution to the success of the event.
